From a young age the owner Adalbjorg Thorsteinsdottir has passessed a lively interest in herbs and their power. Growing up and living in the magnificent nature of the West Fjords has inspired her firm belief in the healing power of wild herbs.
Since 1990 she has been working on the development and production of ointments and salves from herbs she picks in the untouched area around her home village, Talknafjordur, as well as in nearby Arnarfjordur. This is the largest area in Iceland for organic growth and is 11.000 thousund square kilometers, and all her products are certified organic..
Adalbjorg takes special care to select only healthy plants from good soil with plenty of clean water and unpolluted air. This ensures that the best properties as well as the unique efficency of the plants are fully utilized.
In ancient times the remote West Fjords were home to many of Iceland's greatest witches, wizards, healers and herbalists - and a lot of their wisdom has been carried on from generation to generation.
The recipes Adalbjorg has developed are largely derived from Icelandic wisdom, know-how, traditions and tales passed from generation to generation fr hundreds of years.
The owner Gígja has always been interested in flowers and herbs, ever since She remembers. She grew up as a small girl in the countryside of Svalbarðaströnd were she was used to herbs being used in the food making in here family home. Here grandmother also made creams and ointments out of herbs wich she used both on people and animals. It worked well on burns, swellings, pain, arthritis, and more.
It was therefor when Gígja had a family of here own that She used these remedies from here childhood, to heal with. She started making creams, ointments and oils out of the herbs and many people were interested in trying my remedies. It worked well on all kinds of skin problems, burn, outbreak, dry skin, itchyness, arthritis, aces in the muscles and more.
